Slow Fe (ferrous sulfate) is used to treat iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia.

Do not take Slow Fe (ferrous sulfate) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Slow Fe (ferrous sulfate)

Before using Slow Fe (ferrous sulfate), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription medicine, or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplements if you have any other medical condition

It is best to take Slow Fe (ferrous sulfate) on an empty stomach. Do not crush or chew the tablets, swallow them whole. Do not take Slow Fe (ferrous sulfate) with dairy products or antacids. If you need to take an antacid, take it 2 hours after a dose of Slow Fe (ferrous sulfate). Do not use Slow Fe (ferrous sulfate) longer than prescribed, and do not take a higher dose than recommended. Long-term use may cause excess iron to build-up in the body.

How much medicine you take and how often it is taken depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Slow Fe (ferrous sulfate) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Take Slow Fe (ferrous sulfate) as directed by your health care provider. Swallow Tablet whole. Do not crush or chew the Tablet. Slow Fe (ferrous sulfate) may interfere with the absorption of tetracycline Antibiotic. Do not take Slow Fe (ferrous sulfate) within 2 hours of taking tetracycline. If nausea or stomach discomfort occurs, take Slow Fe (ferrous sulfate) with or immediately after meals. Contact your doctor if constipation and diarrhea occurs. Contact your doctor at once if you think you have given your child too much medicine. Stools may become darker while you are taking Slow Fe (ferrous sulfate). This is normal and should be no cause for concern. Do not stop taking Slow Fe (ferrous sulfate) without talking with your health care provider. Do not take any over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements. Patients with other medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before using Slow Fe (ferrous sulfate). Do not take more medicine than recommended unless advised to do so by your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised to by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, restart medication and advise your health care provider at your next appointment.

Store Slow Fe (ferrous sulfate) below 86 degrees F. Protect from heat, direct light and moisture. Keep this product out of the reach of children.
