Sodium Sulamyd (sulfacetamide) is used in the treatment of eye inflammations

Do not take Sodium Sulamyd (sulfacetamide) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Sodium Sulamyd (sulfacetamide) or to similar medications.

Before using Sodium Sulamyd (sulfacetamide), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition like heart disease, lung disease, impairment of kidney or liver functions.

Use Sodium Sulamyd (sulfacetamide) with caution if you have a pus producing infection of the eye or if you have allergy to sulfa containing drugs

How much medicine you use and how often you use it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Sodium Sulamyd (sulfacetamide) you are using, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Sodium Sulamyd (sulfacetamide) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before using Sodium Sulamyd (sulfacetamide). Do not use more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not use any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, use it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist. To apply Sodium Sulamyd (sulfacetamide), pull down your lower eyelid to form a pouch, then squeeze in the medication. To avoid contaminating the eye drops or the ointment, do not touch your eye with the dropper bottle or the tip of the tube. Keep the dropper bottle or tube poised slightly above your eye as you instill the drops or squeeze out the ointment.

Store Sodium Sulamyd (sulfacetamide) at room temperature in a cool dry place, protect from heat and light. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children and pets.
