Taxotere (docetaxel) is used in the treatment of certain forms of breast cancer, lung cancer, and prostate cancer

Do not take Taxotere (docetaxel) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Taxotere (docetaxel) or to similar medications.

Before using Taxotere (docetaxel), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition like heart disease, lung disease, impairment of kidney or liver functions.

Taxotere (docetaxel) should only be administered under the supervision of a qualified healthcare provider experienced in the use of cancer chemotherapeutic agents. Skin accidentally exposed to Taxotere (docetaxel) should be rinsed thoroughly with soap and warm water.

Other: Mouth sores, muscle and joint pain, fever (low grade).

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Taxotere (docetaxel) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Taxotere (docetaxel) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Taxotere (docetaxel). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist. Taxotere (docetaxel) is supplied in a clear glass vial with a red flip-off cap for the 80-mg vial and a green cap for the 20-mg vial. Diluent is supplied in a clear glass vial with a transparent colorless flip-off cap. Both items are provided in a blister pack in a single carton. It is not necessary to store Taxotere (docetaxel) under refrigeration; however, if Taxotere (docetaxel) is stored in the refrigerator, the vials should stand at room temperature for at least 5 minutes before preparation. Each vial is a single-dose vial. Do not use for multiple doses. Mix initial diluted solution for at least 45 seconds. Let initial diluted solution stand for 5 minutes at room temperature. The initial diluted solution may be used immediately or stored either in the refrigerator or at room temperature for a maximum of 8 hours. Inject the initial diluted solution into 0.9% sodium chloride or 5% dextrose solution. Discard any unused solution. Use infusion solution within 4 hours.

Unopened vials may be Store Taxotere (docetaxel)d under refrigeration or at room temperature, 2°C to 25°C (36°F to 77°F). Store in their original package to protect from bright light. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children and pets.
