Tikosyn (not available in Canada) is used to maintain regular heartbeats in patients with certain types of irregular heartbeats.

Do not take Tikosyn (not available in Canada) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Tikosyn (not available in Canada) you have certain heart problems you have severe kidney problems you are taking verapamil, cimetidine, trimethoprim, ketoconazole, prochlorperazine, or megestrol

Before using Tikosyn (not available in Canada), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have severe liver disease if you have any other medical condition

When first taking Tikosyn (not available in Canada), you will need to stay in a medical setting with appropriate monitoring.

Other:  Swelling; increased cough; migraine; abnormal skin sensations; joint pain; swelling of the arms, legs, and feet; sweating; nausea; anxiety; sleeplessness; back pain; diarrhea; rash; stomach pain.

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Tikosyn (not available in Canada) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Read the patient information insert that comes with Tikosyn (not available in Canada) and every time you refill a prescription. Strict adherence is needed with Tikosyn (not available in Canada). Once discharged from the hospital, your doctor should give you an adequate supply of Tikosyn (not available in Canada) until you receive your first supply from your pharmacist. If you experience excessive or prolonged diarrhea, sweating, vomiting, loss of appetite, or thirst while taking Tikosyn (not available in Canada), contact your health care provider at once. Your doctor may prescribe potassium supplements while you are taking Tikosyn (not available in Canada). Tikosyn (not available in Canada) may cause dizziness. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Lab tests will be required. Be sure to keep appointments. Do not stop taking Tikosyn (not available in Canada) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Tikosyn (not available in Canada). Do not take more medicine than is prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications, herbal or dietary supplements without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Store Tikosyn (not available in Canada) at controlled room temperature (59 to 86 degrees F). Protect from moisture and humidity.
