Tobradex (tobramycin/dexamethasone) is used to treat eye inflammation where a bacterial infection or a risk of a bacterial infection exists.

What are the side effects of Tobradex (tobramycin/dexamethasone)?

Most severe: Glaucoma; vision loss; cataracts; severe eye pain.

Most common: Itching and swelling of the eyelid; redness or swelling of the eye; delayed wound healing.

Other: Temporary watering or blurring of vision

How should I take Tobradex (tobramycin/dexamethasone)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Tobradex (tobramycin/dexamethasone) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. To prevent contamination, do not allow the tip of the tube to touch the eyelid or any other surface. Remove contact lenses before using Tobradex (tobramycin/dexamethasone). Use Tobradex (tobramycin/dexamethasone) as directed by your doctor. Do not stop taking Tobradex (tobramycin/dexamethasone), even if symptoms improve, without checking with your doctor. Long-term use of Tobradex (tobramycin/dexamethasone) may cause glaucoma, damage to the eye, visual problems, and cataracts. Do not take over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Tobradex (tobramycin/dexamethasone). If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised to by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider.
