Before using Topicort (desoximetasone), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking or planning to take any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition if you have high blood pressure |
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Topicort (desoximetasone)?

Avoid getting Topicort (desoximetasone) in your eyes. Do not use Topicort (desoximetasone) to treat any condition other than the one for which it was prescribed. Long-term use of steroids may interfere with the growth and development of children. They may also develop headaches, or bulging at the top of the head. This drug is not recommended for children under 10. Avoid covering a treated area with tight waterproof diapers or plastic pants. They can increase unwanted absorption of Topicort (desoximetasone). If your skin becomes irritated or infected, stop using Topicort (desoximetasone) and call your doctor. |

Most severe: Severe allergic reaction (rash, itching, hives, tightness in chest, breathing difficulty)
|

Most common: Acne-like pimples, blistering, burning of the skin, dryness, excessive growth of hair, infection, inflammation of the hair follicles, irritation, itching, loss of skin pigmentation, prickly heat, skin inflammation around the mouth, rash, redness, softening of the skin, stretch marks on the skin, thinning of the skin.

How should I take Topicort (desoximetasone)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Topicort (desoximetasone) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Topicort (desoximetasone) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Topicort (desoximetasone). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.
