What is Toradol (ketorolac) used for? |
Toradol (ketorolac) is used short-term (less than 5 days) to treat severe pain and inflammation usually associated with surgery.

When should Toradol (ketorolac) not be taken?
|
Do not take Toradol (ketorolac) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Toradol (ketorolac), aspirin, or similar medications you are taking aspirin or similar medications (eg, ibuprofen) you have or have a history of peptic ulcers you have or have a history of intestinal bleeding or perforation you are taking probenecid you are pregnant, in labor, or breastfeeding you have advanced kidney impairment or are at risk for kidney failure you have bleeding in the brain or other bleeding problems you will be having surgery |
What precautions should I follow when taking Toradol (ketorolac) ?

Before using Toradol (ketorolac), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are planning to become pregnant if you are taking any prescription medicine, nonprescription medicine (including water pills), herbal preparation, or dietary supplement if you have kidney problems if you are dehydrated if you have liver disease or impaired liver function if you have heart failure or other heart problems if you have high blood pressure if you are taking blood thinners or have a blood clotting disorder if you have any other medical condition |

Most severe:ÿ Severe allergic reaction (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); ulcers; bleeding; stomach perforation; fluid retention; seizures; pounding in the chest; fainting; rectal bleeding; tremors; hallucinations; yellowing of the skin or eyes; meningitis; psychosis.

Most common:ÿ Swelling; nausea; indigestion; stomach pain; diarrhea; constipation; gas; stomach fullness; vomiting; mouth sores; purple patches under the skin; headache; drowsiness; dizziness; sweating.

Other:ÿ Weight gain; infection (fever, chills, sore throat); weakness; pale skin; changes in appetite; nosebleed; exaggerated sense of well-being; feeling of a whirling motion; abnormal skin sensations; depression; sleeplessness; nervousness; excessive thirst; dry mouth; abnormal thinking; inability to concentrate; increased muscle function; lack of responsiveness; runny nose; cough; abnormal taste; changes in vision; blurred vision; ringing in the ears; hearing loss; urinary retention; increased urination; flushing; dark, bloody stools; inflammation of the pancreas (stomach tenderness; nausea; vomiting; fever; increased pulse rate); asthma; abnormal dreams.

How should I take Toradol (ketorolac)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or how often you take Toradol (ketorolac), talk with your health care provider. Carefully read the information provided with Toradol (ketorolac). The injection must be used before the tablet can be taken. Do not use Toradol (ketorolac) for more than 5 days. Toradol (ketorolac) is not for the treatment of mild to moderate or chronic pain (eg, headache). Discard any unused Tablet. Do not share Toradol (ketorolac) with anyone. Toradol (ketorolac) may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Lab tests may be required to monitor therapy. Be sure to keep appointments. Toradol (ketorolac) is not to be given to children under 16 years of age. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before using Toradol (ketorolac). Do not stop taking Toradol (ketorolac) without checking with your doctor. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your doctor. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplement. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
