Trental SR (pentoxiphylline) improves blood flow and is used generally to treat circulation problems (eg, attacks of leg muscle pain, cramping, numbness, and weakness)that cause leg discomfort. Doctors may occasionally prescribe it for other reasons.

Do not take Trental SR (pentoxiphylline) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Trental SR (pentoxiphylline) or similar medications you have had a recent brain or retinal hemorrhage

Before using Trental SR (pentoxiphylline), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition

Trental SR (pentoxiphylline) should be used with caution if you take blood thinner, if you have peptic ulcer, if you have had surgery recently or if you suffer from bleeding disorders.

Other: Allergic reaction (symptoms include: swelling of face, lips, tongue, throat, arms, or legs, sore throat, fever and chills, difficulty swallowing, chest pain), anxiety, bad taste in the mouth, blind spot in vision, blurred vision, brittle fingernails, chest pain (sometimes crushing), confusion, conjunctivitis (pinkeye), constipation, depression, difficult or labored breathing, dizziness, dry mouth/thirst, earache, excessive salivation, flu-like symptoms, fluid retention, general body discomfort, headache, hives, indigestion, inflammation of the gallbladder, itching, laryngitis, loss of appetite, low blood pressure, nosebleeds, rash, seizures, sore throat/swollen neck glands, stuffy nose, tremor, vomiting, weight change

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount andperor frequency of Trental SR (pentoxiphylline) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Trental SR (pentoxiphylline) should be taken 3 times a day with meals. If stomach or nervous system side effects develop, the dose should be lowered. If side effects still occur, Trental SR (pentoxiphylline) should be discontinued. Improvement may take 2 to 4 weeks to notice and up to 8 weeks for maximum relief. Do not stop taking Trental SR (pentoxiphylline) without checking with your doctor. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Trental SR (pentoxiphylline). Do not take more medicine than is prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your doctor. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Store Trental SR (pentoxiphylline) Tablet between 59 to 86 degrees F.
