Tricor (fenofibrate, micronized), in combination with proper diet and exercise is used to lower blood cholesterol and triglycerides

Do not take Tricor (fenofibrate, micronized) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Tricor (fenofibrate, micronized) or to similar medications.

Before using Tricor (fenofibrate, micronized), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition like heart disease, lung disease, impairment of kidney or liver functions.

Tricor (fenofibrate, micronized) should not be taken by people with serious liver or kidney disease, gallbladder disease, or by those who may be allergic or sensitive to the drug. If you think you have any of these conditions, please discuss them with your healthcare provider.

Other: Dyspepsia, flatulence, nausea, increased appetite, gastroenteritis, cholelithiasis, rectal disorder, esophagitis, gastritis, colitis, tooth disorder, vomiting, anorexia, gastrointestinal disorder, duodenal ulcer, nausea and vomiting, peptic ulcer, rectal hemorrhage, liver fatty deposit, cholecystitis, eructation, gamma glutamyl transpeptidase, and diarrhea.

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Tricor (fenofibrate, micronized) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Tricor (fenofibrate, micronized) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Tricor (fenofibrate, micronized). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist. Every attempt should be made to control serum lipids with appropriate diet, exercise, weight loss in obese patients, and control of any medical problems such as diabetes mellitus and hypothyroidism that are contributing to the lipid abnormalities. Medications known to exacerbate hypertriglyceridemia (beta-blockers, thiazides, estrogens) should be discontinued or changed if possible prior to consideration of triglyceride-lowering drug therapy.

Store Tricor (fenofibrate, micronized) at room temperature in a cool dry place, protect from heat and light. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children and pets.
