Viroptic (requires refrigeration, not able to ship) is used to treat herpes simplex keratitis (viral inflammation of the cornea of the eye).

Before using Viroptic (requires refrigeration, not able to ship), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition

Other:  Increased tearing.

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount Temporary burning or stinging may occur when first given. This is not a cause for alarm. Do not use more often or for a longer period than prescribed. Use for greater than 21 days is generally not recommended due to potential harm to the eye. Do not use with contact lenses without first consulting with your eye doctor. Talk with your doctor if improvement is not seen after 7 to 14 days. Talk with your doctor if condition worsens or if decreased vision, pain, itching, or swelling occurs. The inflammation may return if Viroptic (requires refrigeration, not able to ship) is not continued for an additional 7 days after the lesion is apparently healed. Viroptic (requires refrigeration, not able to ship) may cause sensitivity to light. This may be minimized by wearing sunglasses. Do not stop taking Viroptic (requires refrigeration, not able to ship) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Viroptic (requires refrigeration, not able to ship). Do not take more medicine than is prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Store Viroptic (requires refrigeration, not able to ship) solution in refrigerator (36 to 46 degrees F).
