How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. Zaroxolyn (metolazone) increases urination; therefore to avoid disruption of sleep at night, take early in the day usually as a single dose. Zaroxolyn (metolazone) may cause stomach upset. If signs of potassium loss occur (weakness, cramps, nausea, dizziness, etc), contact your doctor. Ask about foods high in potassium. Diabetic patients may experience loss of glucose control. Closely watch blood sugar levels. Dizziness or lightheadedness may occur if you stand up too fast from lying or sitting while taking Zaroxolyn (metolazone). Get up slowly, and call your health care provider. Sensitivity to sunlight may occur while taking Zaroxolyn (metolazone). Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing until tolerance is determined.
