Do not take Ziac (bisoprolol/hctz) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Ziac (bisoprolol/hctz) or to similar medications, if you are allergic to sulphonamide containing antibiotics. Do not take Ziac (bisoprolol/hctz) if you have inadequate blood supply to the circulatory system (cardiogenic shock), certain types of irregular heartbeat, a slow heartbeat, bronchial asthma, or severe congestive heart failure. Also avoid the drug if you have trouble urinating. . |

Before using Ziac (bisoprolol/hctz), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition like heart disease, lung disease, impairment of kidney or liver functions. |
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Ziac (bisoprolol/hctz)?

Use Ziac (bisoprolol/hctz) with caution if you have a history of congestive heart failure. Ziac (bisoprolol/hctz) does not cure high blood pressure; it merely keeps it under control. Therefore, you must continue taking it even if you are feeling well. Do not stop taking Ziac (bisoprolol/hctz) unless instructed to do so by your doctor. This is especially important if you have coronary artery disease. Abruptly stopping Ziac (bisoprolol/hctz) could cause chest pain, heart rhythm problems, and even heart attack |

Most severe: Chest pain, drowsiness, headache, indigestion, loss of libido, nausea, restricted blood flow to the extremities, runny nose, slow heartbeat, swelling of the extremities

Most common: Dizziness, fatigue

Other: Cough, diarrhea, impotence, insomnia, muscle cramps

How should I take Ziac (bisoprolol/hctz)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Ziac (bisoprolol/hctz) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Ziac (bisoprolol/hctz) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Ziac (bisoprolol/hctz). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist. Ziac (bisoprolol/hctz) may cause some people to become drowsy or less alert. You should not drive or operate dangerous machinery or participate in any hazardous activity until you know how the drug affects you. Ziac (bisoprolol/hctz) may mask the symptoms of low blood sugar or alter blood sugar levels. In addition, diabetics who experience a severe drop in blood sugar after taking insulin may suffer a spike in blood pressure if they are also taking Ziac (bisoprolol/hctz).
