Broccoli, Why You Should've Eaten It as A Kid... It's Never Too Late To Start

If you've got parents (or had an elementary school principal) like mine then you were probably told to eat your broccoli. I, having liked broccoli, had no problem eating the green, miniature tree looking vegetable. However, many other kids, most of my friends included, couldn't stand the stuff and despised broccoli with all of the body, mind, and soul.

We were kids back then and who could blame us for not wanting to eat vegetables? The most important thing is we recognize their importance now. Many vegetable are good for us, but broccoli is one of those vegetables that are exceptionally good. Why? Well there are many reasons.

Broccoli is one of the top vegetables you should eat. It is rich in vitamins, high in fibre, yet it is low in fat and calories. Broccoli contains plenty of Vitamin A and Vitamin C, with one serving of broccoli supplying you with about 200% of your require daily dose of Vitamin C. Additionally, the levels of calcium contained in broccoli is apparently able to rival that of milk!

If you thought that all of that was great listen to this. Recent studies suggest that eating broccoli can help prevent certain types of cancer, and also broccoli may be able to help ward off herpes by interfering with the reproduction of the herpes cells. If you don't think that is pretty amazing then I don't know what is.

Remember eat your vegetables, and if you've got kids you tell them to eat theirs too. If they refuse, force them. Well, maybe asking politely will do the trick, physically forcing them my result in custody battles and a social worker coming to observe your family... not exactly a go

Alternative Treatments For ADD/ADHD

1.Brahmi (Bacopa) Supplements – Brahmi is a natural product that has been proven to be a anti-anxiety agent which is used to calm restless children. Additionally, Brahmi increases mental alertness, and has been used to increase performance, enhance learning capabilities, and aid with short and long term memory. Brahmi has been taken to help with ADD/ADHD symptoms and does not have any known side effects to date. Brahmi also does not contain any addictive components.

2.Essential Fatty Acids – Help may be a lot closer than you think. Nutrition may be able to help quite substantially when it comes to dealing with ADD/ADHD. Although not all children who have ADD/ADHD suffer from essential fatty acid deficiency, studies and statistics show that a great amount do. These fatty acids are necessary to make brain and nerve tissue within the body, and are crucial for proper growth, mental function, and the immune system and brain development. Because Omega-3, and 6 fatty acids are not produced by the body, nutrition is extremely important for those with ADD/ADHD.

The benefits of essential fatty acids in children with ADD/ADHD is very amazing, and also proven in many studies. An Oxford University study evaluated the effects of fatty acid supplementation in average intelligence children who had significant reading and writing disabilities. The ADHD symptoms in children receiving essential fatty acids improved significantly. Researchers originally tied ADD/ADHD with lower essential fatty acid in 1981. Studies examining essential fatty acid blood levels in children with behavioral problems in 1983 confirmed this Attention Deficit Disorder connection. In 1996 Purdue University researchers have found that boys with low blood levels of Omega-3 fatty acids have a greater frequency of ADD/ADHD.
