This medicine is an antihistamine used to relieve the symptoms of hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis).Store in a dry place at room temperature between 59° - 86°F. Keep out of reach of children and petsHow much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not take more medication than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medication. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine.Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition like heart disease, lung disease, impairment of kidney or liver functions.Do not increase the dose of this medicine or take it more than once a day. Higher doses have no additional effect on hay fever symptoms and may cause drowsiness. This medicine is not approved for children under 12.Most severe: Acute allergic reaction, hives, itching, rapid heartbeat, rash, shortness of breath, swellingMost common: Dry mouth, fatigue, sleepiness, sore throatOther: Dizziness, dry throat, flu-like symptoms, muscle pain, nausea

While taking this medication, people with severe kidney disease or severely reduced kidney function should be closely monitored by their doctor.

What are the side effects of Aerius?

Most severe: Difficulty breathing (shortness of breath, laboured breathing, chest tightness, wheezing), difficulty swallowing, dizziness, fast or irregular heartbeat, hives, itching, redness of skin, or skin rash, puffiness or swelling of eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips or tongue unusual tiredness or weakness

Most common: Dry mouth, nose or throat, fatigue, headache, increased appetite and weight gain, stomach upset or pain, thickening of mucus
