Estradot Product Description

This medicine is used for the treatment of signs and symptoms of estrogen deficiency due to the menopause, whether natural or surgically induced, e.g. hot flushes, sleep disturbances, and urogenital atrophy, as well as accompanying mood changes. This medicine is also used for the prevention of accelerated postmenopausal bone loss (osteoporosis).Store at room temperature in a cool dry place, protect from heat and light. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children and pets.How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking this medicine without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine or to similar medications.Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking or planning to take any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition if you have high blood pressure if you have asthma, blood vessel disease, blood clotting disorder, or suffered a stroke, breast, cervical, endometrial or uterine cancer, diabetes, fibroids in the womb, or endometriosis, heart, kidney or liver disease, high blood lipids or cholesterol, high blood pressure, high level of calcium in the blood, hysterectomy, mental depression, migraine, porphyria, if you are a tobacco smoker if you have vaginal bleeding, if you have ever had an an unusual or allergic reaction to estrogens, other hormones, medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives.Visit your health care professional for regular checks on your progress. You should have a complete check-up every 6 months. You should get a regular breast and pelvic exam and 'Pap' smear while on estradiol skin patches. You should also discuss the need for regular mammograms with your health care professional, and follow his or her guidelines for these tests. If you have any unusual bleeding contact your prescriber or health care professional for advice. Caution is advised in patients with a history of estrogen-related jaundice and pruritus. If cholestatic jaundice develops during treatment, the treatment should be stopped and appropriate investigations carried out.Most severe: Breakthrough bleeding and spotting, breast enlargement, tenderness, unusual discharge or milk production, chest pain, leg, arm or groin pain, nausea, vomiting, severe headaches, stomach or abdominal pain (severe), sudden shortness of breath, swelling of the hands, feet or ankles, or rapid weight gain, vision or speech problems, yellowing of the eyes or skinMost common: Irritation or mild redness at patch application siteOther: Change in sexual desire, mild stomach upset, mood changes, anxiety, depression, frustration, anger, or emotional outbursts, increased or decreased appetite, skin rash, acne, or brown spots on the face, tiredness, vaginal yeast infection (irritation and white discharge), weight gain
