Compounding
Pharmaceutical compounding is the technique of preparing customized medications for patients, including pets. This means re-formulating medications to make them easier to take.
Some people are allergic to preservatives or dyes, or are sensitive to standard drug strengths. With a physician’s consent, a compounding pharmacist can change the strength of a medication, alter its form and make it easier for the patient to ingest, or add flavor to make it more palatable.
Our Affiliated Pharmacists will work with you and your doctor to determine the form of medication that works best for you, whether it is a transdermal gel, topical cream, liquid, lozenge, lollipops or gummy bears for your kids, and even chewable tablets for your cats.
Almost any kind of prescription can be compounded and is ideal for any patient requiring unique dosage forms and/or delivery devices. Our compounding applications include bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, veterinary, hospice, paediatric, dental, and chronic pain management.
We can customize these formulations to suit your needs. These are just some of the ways we can help you with your medication needs:
- Capsules
Many medications may be formulated into capsule form. - Troches
Lozenge type medications that dissolve between the lower cheek and gum. An advantage of this route of administration is the direct absorption of a medication by your body. In many cases, lower doses may be possible to achieve the same therapeutic effect. - Creams
Creams have long been used as an effective drug delivery system. While primarily used for the treatment of skin problems many other medications, especially natural hormones, can be compounded into a cream or gel form and applied topically to give good therapeutic results. - Flavoring
A wide variety of natural flavors are available to mask drug taste. This is especially useful in the treatment of children and in veterinary medications. Flavours can be directed to adults, kids and animals.
Call us for more information or fill out the form below to tell us more about your compounding needs and how we can help you. Please provide us with as much information as possible for your prescription so we can help suit your needs and determine pricing of the medication.
We may not be able to ship all compounds via mail order. This is dependent on the regulations imposed by your country's regulatory Health Authority and the storage requirements of the compounded medication.
