Once and for all eliminate your nasty bad habit. Smoking should be a thing of the past, do not let it cloud your future.

Quit Smoking For Better Health

You know, and have probably always known, that you need to quit smoking. Maybe you’ve even made a few attempts to drop the habit. If you have been unsuccessful up until this point, keep reading for valuable information about why it’s important to quit and for tips to help you quit.

Quit Smoking For A Healthier Lifestyle

Maybe it’s time for a reality check to see what smoking is really doing to your body.

  • Nicotine particles are carried to your lungs through the blood stream in the form of tar. Once there, they create a sticky residue on your lungs that will eventually hinder your breathing and leave you less active.
  • Your blood pressure is probably abnormal from smoking. When you light up your blood pressure spikes up and back down again. This is dangerous for your heart and your brain.
  • You are putting carbon monoxide into your body on a daily basis. Carbon monoxide is a type of poison and over time will cause your heart rate as well as respirations to go down.

Here’s what happens to your body when you quit:

  • Within 20 minutes your blood pressure, oxygen levels, and pulse rate begin to return to normal.
  • Within 24 hours carbon monoxide begins leaving your body and your lungs begin the cleaning process. The risk of you having a heart attack also starts to decrease.
  • After 48 hours your sense of smell and taste begins to return.
  • The 72 hour mark will bring out an increased breathing level as well as an increased energy level.

So what are you going to do to quit smoking to notice the above health benefits? That’s a good question. There are multiple things that you could try. Some doctors will prescribe a pill if you are serious about quitting. Others will tell you that using the patch, nicotine gum, and staying busy are the best and healthiest ways to quit smoking.

How you decide to quit is up to you. Staying busy is one of the key elements of getting rid of this habit. When your mind is busy you don’t feel the urge to light up like you do when you’re bored. To quit smoking develop a plan and stick to it. You will feel better in the long run and your body will thank you for it!

What’s Your Motivation For Weight Loss?

Will Your Motivation For Weight Loss Work?

What is your motivation for weight loss this year? Your New Year’s healthy living resolution should be well under way at this point. If it isn’t, what exactly are you waiting for? Maybe you just don’t have enough motivation.

Motivation For Weight Loss

I could sit here and bore you with all of the scientific statistics that go along with getting healthy. Statistics about lower blood pressure and lower blood sugar are just a few of the statistics that I’m sure you hear about all the time when it comes to becoming healthy. But I promised not to bore you so let’s talk like real people for a minute shall we?

Here’s a motivational exercise for you: Go to your closet, open it, and pull out the first thing that you see. Maybe it’s your favorite pair of pants or a shirt. Check the tag. Is this the size that you imagined yourself being 10 years ago? If the answer is no, it should be a motivational factor for you.

Next, head to your favorite department store and find an outfit that will make you feel amazing in your ideal size. Spend good money on it so that you are motivated to wear it. Take it home and hang it up so that you see it every day.

Most people do this exercise with some sort of swimwear. If you’re like me, the thought of being in a bikini has never been ideal. Even when I was skinny, I despised swimwear for everything that it represented because I knew that I was never going to be a size three. However, if getting into that cute bikini is motivation for weight loss, all the more power to you!

Have you considered making a list of the reasons that you want to get healthy? I made a list. For me, making a list holds me accountable. I named my list the ‘get it together’ list. One of the things on that list was to cut back on my soda intake. I love soda. I drink a lot of it and I know that it’s not good for me. Now when I crave soda, I hold myself accountable to the list and grab a glass of water instead. Every time I am successful at fighting the urges of wanting a soda, I write it down. So I can see all my small victories.

Staying Motivated And Staying Positive Is Up To You

Did you know that the more motivated and positive you are the more likely you are to lose that stubborn weight? It’s time for you to stop beating yourself up for putting the weight on and just focus on getting rid of it.

Take the time to learn something new today. Maybe you need to brush up on your nutrition or maybe you need to learn a new workout. Try waking up every morning and deciding what the best options are to keep you motivated that day.

Motivation for weight loss comes from within. The same thing may not work every day. Instead, try to find a number of things that keep you driven and on task. It’s time to be a better you!
