Will Your Motivation For Weight Loss Work?
What is your motivation for weight loss this year? Your New Year’s healthy living resolution should be well under way at this point. If it isn’t, what exactly are you waiting for? Maybe you just don’t have enough motivation.
Motivation For Weight Loss
I could sit here and bore you with all of the scientific statistics that go along with getting healthy. Statistics about lower blood pressure and lower blood sugar are just a few of the statistics that I’m sure you hear about all the time when it comes to becoming healthy. But I promised not to bore you so let’s talk like real people for a minute shall we?
Here’s a motivational exercise for you: Go to your closet, open it, and pull out the first thing that you see. Maybe it’s your favorite pair of pants or a shirt. Check the tag. Is this the size that you imagined yourself being 10 years ago? If the answer is no, it should be a motivational factor for you.
Next, head to your favorite department store and find an outfit that will make you feel amazing in your ideal size. Spend good money on it so that you are motivated to wear it. Take it home and hang it up so that you see it every day.
Most people do this exercise with some sort of swimwear. If you’re like me, the thought of being in a bikini has never been ideal. Even when I was skinny, I despised swimwear for everything that it represented because I knew that I was never going to be a size three. However, if getting into that cute bikini is motivation for weight loss, all the more power to you!
Have you considered making a list of the reasons that you want to get healthy? I made a list. For me, making a list holds me accountable. I named my list the ‘get it together’ list. One of the things on that list was to cut back on my soda intake. I love soda. I drink a lot of it and I know that it’s not good for me. Now when I crave soda, I hold myself accountable to the list and grab a glass of water instead. Every time I am successful at fighting the urges of wanting a soda, I write it down. So I can see all my small victories.
Staying Motivated And Staying Positive Is Up To You
Did you know that the more motivated and positive you are the more likely you are to lose that stubborn weight? It’s time for you to stop beating yourself up for putting the weight on and just focus on getting rid of it.
Take the time to learn something new today. Maybe you need to brush up on your nutrition or maybe you need to learn a new workout. Try waking up every morning and deciding what the best options are to keep you motivated that day.
Motivation for weight loss comes from within. The same thing may not work every day. Instead, try to find a number of things that keep you driven and on task. It’s time to be a better you!
