What is Acular/Ketorolac used for?

This medicine is used to treat itchy eyes due to allergies and eye inflammation after surgery to remove cataracts. Doctors may occasionally prescribe it for other reasons.

Do not take this medication if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine or to other medicines

What precautions should I follow when taking Acular/Ketorolac?

Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or are breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have bleeding problems if you are taking medication that thins your blood if you have an active case or a history of herpes simplex infection of the eye. if you wear soft contact lenses if you have any other medical conditions

What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Acular/Ketorolac?

This medicine may make the blood slower to clot, leading to increased bleeding after eye surgery. Use this medicine with caution if you tend to bleed easily or are taking a blood thinning medication. This medicine may also delay healing. Discontinue the use of this medicine immediately if inflammation of cornea occurs.

What are the side effects of Acular/Ketorolac?

Most severe:  Increased bleeding during eye surgery.

Most common:  Temporary burning or stinging; eye irritation; allergic reactions; eye infections; mild inflammation of the cornea.

Other: Headache

How should I take Acular/Ketorolac?

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or how often you take this medicine, talk with your health care provider. For use in the eye. Do not stop taking this medication without checking with your doctor. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your doctor. Patients with previous conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medication. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
