What is Arthrotec/Diclofenac/misoprostal used for?

This medicine relieves the symptoms of arthritis in people who are also prone to ulcers.

When should Arthrotec/Diclofenac/misoprostal not be taken?

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any component present in this medicine if you are pregnant, if you have ever had an allergic reaction to aspirin.

What precautions should I follow when taking Arthrotec/Diclofenac/misoprostal?

Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you are taking blood thinners if you have stomach problems if you have peptic ulcers if you have any other medical condition like liver or kidney function impairment or heart problem

What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Arthrotec/Diclofenac/misoprostal?

Although this medicine is designed to protect against stomach ulcers and bleeding, they remain a possibility. Contact your doctor immediately if you notice signs of bleeding such as black tarry stools. Also call the doctor if you develop severe diarrhea, cramping, or nausea, or if milder symptoms persist for more than 7 days.

What are the side effects of Arthrotec/Diclofenac/misoprostal?

Most severe: Allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives)

Most common: Abdominal pain, acid indigestion, diarrhea, gas, nausea

Other: Abnormal vision or tearing, acne, anxiety, appetite changes, asthma, blood in the urine, breast pain, bruising, change in taste, concentration difficulties, confusion, constipation, coughing, dark tarry stools, decreased breathing, decreased or increased urination, dehydration, depression, difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing, difficulty urinating, disorientation, dizziness, double vision, dream abnormalities, drowsiness, dry mouth, eczema, excessive or postmenopausal vaginal bleeding, eye infection, fainting, fatigue, fever, frequent urination, gout, hallucinations, hair loss, headache, hearing impairment, heartburn, hemorrhoids, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, hives, impotence, increased heart rate, increased muscle tone, increased nighttime urination, increased sweating, infection, inflammation in the digestive tract, insomnia, irregular or increased menstrual bleeding, irritability, irregular heartbeat, itching, jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), joint pain, loss of appetite, low blood pressure, low blood sugar, migraine, mouth sores, muscle pain, nervousness, night blindness, nosebleed, painful menstruation, paranoia, pelvic pain, pinkeye, rapid breathing, rash, rectal bleeding, rectal itching, ringing in the ears, seizures, sensitivity to light, skin sores, skin rash, skin swelling, stomach or intestinal bleeding, stomach ulcers, taste loss, throat swelling, throbbing heartbeat, tremor, tingling/numbness, urinary tract infection, vertigo, vomiting, weakness, weight changes

How should I take Arthrotec/Diclofenac/misoprostal?

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking this medicine without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.
