What is Atarax/Hydroxyzine used for?
This medicine is used to relieve anxiety, tension or itching due to allergic conditions (eg, hives, rash, insect bites)and for sedation before or after surgery.

Store between 59 and 86 degrees F in a tight, light-resistant container.

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine you are pregnant or breastfeeding
What precautions should I follow when taking Atarax/Hydroxyzine?
Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are planning to become pregnant if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine or dietary supplements if you have any other medical condition
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Atarax/Hydroxyzine?
This medicine should be given with extreme caution to patients with epilepsy. This medicine may cause drowsiness and impaired alertness. Driving a car or operating machinery can be potentially hazardous while taking this medicine.
What are the side effects of Atarax/Hydroxyzine?
Most severe: Involuntary movements, seizures.
Most common: Drowsiness; dry mouth.
Other: Dizziness, lethargy
How should I take Atarax/Hydroxyzine?
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. This medicine may produce drowsiness. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Avoid alcohol and other medicines (eg, sedatives, tranquilizers) that cause drowsiness while you are taking this medicine. Do not take over-the-counter or prescription medications or dietary supplements without talking with your health care provider. Patients with other medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not take more medicine than recommended unless advised to do so by your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised to by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, restart medication if still necessary.
