What is Caverject/Alprostadil used for?
This medicine is used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, commonly called impotence.
If you have any questions about your medicine, please talk with your Health care provider, pharmacist, or health care provider. This medicine is only to be used by the patient for whom it is prescribed. Do not give it to others. This information is advisory only. It does not contain all information about this medicine. How should Caverject/Alprostadil be stored?
Store unused packs of this medicine at room temperature for up to 3 months. Protect from freezing or from overheating. Once the solution is mixed, you must use it immediately or discard it.

When should Caverject/Alprostadil not be taken?
Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any component present in this medicine.
What precautions should I follow when taking Caverject/Alprostadil?
Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you are taking blood thinners if you have stomach problems if you have peptic ulcers if you have any other medical condition like liver or kidney function impairment or heart problem
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Caverject/Alprostadil?
Remember that development of any unusual deformity of the penis while using this medicine is a signal to stop taking the injections and inform your health care provider. Small amounts of bleeding at the injection site can increase the risk of transmission of blood-borne diseases such as HIV.
What are the side effects of Caverject/Alprostadil?
Most severe: Abnormal vision, back pain, bruising at the injection site, cough, dizziness, flu symptoms, headache, heart attack, high blood pressure, infection, inflamed or enlarged prostate, injuries/fractures/abrasions/lacerations/dislocations, leg pain, nasal congestion, pain, redness, sinus inflammation, skin disorders
Most common: Blood-filled swelling at the site of injection, disorder of the penis (such as discoloration of the head, strange feeling, tearing of the skin), hardened tissue in the penis, pain in the penis, prolonged erection, upper respiratory infection
Other: Abnormal ejaculation, bleeding at the urethra, blood in the urine, dizziness, dry mouth, extreme dilation of the pupils, fainting, fluid retention at the injection site, frequent or urgent urination, hemorrhage at the injection site, impaired urination, inflammation, irritation, itching, lack of sensation, leg cramps, low blood pressure, nausea, numbness, painful erection, pelvic pain, profuse sweating, rash on the penis, redness, sensitivity, swelling at the injection site, swelling of the head of the penis, swelling of the scrotum, testicular pain, tightness of the foreskin, warmth, weakness, yeast infection
How should I take Caverject/Alprostadil?
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking this medicine without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.
