What is Colchicine/Colcrys used for?
This medicine is used to relieve pain and inflammation in gout. This medicine prevents gout attacks by removing extra uric acid from the body.

How should Colchicine/Colcrys be stored?
Store at room temperature in a cool dry place, protect from heat and light. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children and pets.

When should Colchicine/Colcrys not be taken?
Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine or to similar medications.
What precautions should I follow when taking Colchicine/Colcrys?
Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you are taking blood thinners if you have stomach problems if you have peptic ulcers if you have any other medical condition like liver or kidney function impairment or heart problem
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Colchicine/Colcrys?
Stop taking this medicine immediately and check with your doctor as soon as possible if severe diarrhea, nausea or vomiting, or stomach pain occurs while you are taking this medicine.
What are the side effects of Colchicine/Colcrys?
Most severe: Pain of the extremities (hands, feet), sore throat, fever, chills, unusual weakness or tiredness, bloody urine, muscle weakness, decrease in urine output (sudden onset), difficulty breathing, burning sensation in throat, pain, redness, and/or swelling at the injection site, very small red spots, rash, burning sensation on skin, black, tarry stools, diarrhea ( severe and/or bloody), vomiting (severe), burning sensation in the stomach, unusual bruising or bleeding, numbness or tingling of the extremities, weakness of the extremities, convulsions, mood changes mental changes.
Most common: Loss of hair, loss of appetite
Other: Fast or irregular breathing; puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes; shortness of breath, troubled breathing, tightness in chest, or wheezing; changes in the skin color of the face occurring together with any of the other side effects listed here; or skin rash, hives, or itching, black or tarry stools; cloudy urine ; cough or hoarseness; fast or irregular breathing; numbness, tingling, pain, or weakness in hands or feet; pinpoint red spots on skin; sores, ulcers, or white spots on lips or in mouth; sore throat, fever, and chills; sudden decrease in the amount of urine; swelling of face, fingers, feet, and/or lower legs; swollen and/or painful glands; unusual bleeding or bruising; unusual tiredness or weakness; yellow eyes or skin; weight gain
How should I take Colchicine/Colcrys?
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking this medicine without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.
