For external use only. Do not use this medicine for eyes or ears. The absorption of this medicine may be increased in neonates and infants, thus this medicine is not recommended for use in neonates, and should be used at reduced dosages in infants.

What are the side effects of Neosporin/Neomycin/bacitracin/polymyxin - discontinued?

Most severe:  Severe allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, rash, hives), ototoxicity, nephrotoxicity.

Most common:  Rash; worsening of condition.

How should I take Neosporin/Neomycin/bacitracin/polymyxin - discontinued?

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. This medicine is for external use only. Do not use in or near the eyes or apply over large parts of the body. Clean the affected area before applying this medicine. Apply a small amount of this medicine (about the size of the tip of the finger) to the affected area. The treated area may be covered with a bandage. In cases of deep or puncture wounds, animal bites, or serious burns, contact your doctor. Stop using this medicine and call your health care provider if the condition continues for more than 1 week or get worse. If the condition clears up but come comes back after a few days, call your health care provider. If allergic reactions occur, stop using this medicine and talk to your health care provider. Do not use this medicine longer than 1 week unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before using this medicine.
