What is Orudis/Ketoprofen – used for?

This medicine is used to temporarily relieve fever and minor aches and pains caused by the common cold, headache, toothache, muscle aches, backache, minor arthritis pain, and menstrual cramps.

How should Orudis/Ketoprofen – be stored?

Store between 68 and 77 degrees F. Avoid storing above 104 degrees F. Do not use this medicine after the expiration date printed on the package.

When should Orudis/Ketoprofen – not be taken?

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine you are allergic to aspirin or similar medicines, such as ibuprofen you are in your third trimester of pregnancy if you have stoach bleeding or peptic ulcer

What precautions should I follow when taking Orudis/Ketoprofen –?

Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription medicine (especially ketoprofen), nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement if you are under a doctor's care for any serious condition if you have asthma if the painful area is red or swollen if you have had serious side effects from taking fever reducers or pain relievers if you drink more than 3 alcoholic beverages per day if you have any other medical condition

What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Orudis/Ketoprofen –?

This medicine has been reported to cause serious and sometimes fatal gastro-intestinal toxicity such as stomach bleeding, peptic ulceration and perforation.

What are the side effects of Orudis/Ketoprofen –?

Most severe:  Serious allergic reactions (hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; wheezing; shock [pale skin]); stomach bleeding.

Most common:  Stomach upset.

Other: Ringing in ears, hearing impairment, visual disturbance, conjunctivitis, conjunctivitis sicca, abnormal taste, palpitation, congestive heart failure, hypertension.

How should I take Orudis/Ketoprofen –?

How much medicine you take and how often it is taken depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Carefully read the information provided with this medicine. Follow the directions for use printed on the package. Take this medicine with a full glass of water or other liquid. If pain or fever does not get better in 1 hour after taking this medicine, you may take 1 more tablet. If fever lasts for more than 3 days or if pain persists for more than 10 days, stop using this medicine and contact your health care provider. Stop using this medicine and contact your health care provider if the painful area is red or swollen. Contact your health care provider if symptoms worsen, if new or unexpected symptoms occur, or if stomach pain occurs. Stop using this medicine and contact your health care provider if signs of a serious allergic reaction (hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; wheezing; shock [pale skin]) occur. If you are pregnant, do not use this medicine during your last trimester of pregnancy unless directed to do so by your health care provider. This medicine may cause problems in the unborn child or complications during delivery. This medicine may contain the dye tartrazine (FD&C Yellow No. 5), which can cause allergic reactions in certain patients. Consult your doctor or pharmacist. Do not give this medicine to children under 16 years of age unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Patients with other medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not take more medicine than recommended unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Contact your health care provider at once if you feel you have taken too much of this medicine. Do not take any over-the-counter or prescription medicines or dietary supplements without talking with your health care provider. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements.
