What is Parlodel/Bromocriptine used for?
This medicine is used to treat some types of female infertility and irregular menstruation, abnormally large growth of certain body parts, persistent production of milk and Parkinson's disease.

When should Parlodel/Bromocriptine not be taken?
Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine you have uncontrolled high blood pressure you are allergic to ergot alkaloids you are pregnant you have recently given birth and have vascular disease or other heart disorders
What precautions should I follow when taking Parlodel/Bromocriptine?
Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition if you have a history of mental disorders
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Parlodel/Bromocriptine?
This medicine may cause low blood pressure which can lead to dizziness and other symptoms, especially when you rise from a sitting or lying position (postural hypotension). Use caution driving or performing other hazardous activities until you know how this medicine affects you.
What are the side effects of Parlodel/Bromocriptine?
Most severe: Seizures, allergic reaction
Most common: Nausea; headache; dizziness; tiredness; lightheadedness; vomiting; stomach cramps; nasal congestion; constipation; diarrhea; drowsiness; appetite loss; dry mouth; indigestion; blurred vision; abnormal involuntary movements; hallucinations; depression; shortness of breath.
Other: Persistent watery nasal discharge
How should I take Parlodel/Bromocriptine?
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Take with food. This medicine may produce drowsiness, dizziness or lightheadedness; sit or lie down if this occurs and contact your health care provider. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Patients taking this medicine for female infertility or menstrual irregularities should report any persistent watery nasal discharge to their health care provider. Patients taking this medicine for large brain tumors should know that stopping this medicine can lead to rapid regrowth of the tumor. Use mechanical birth control (eg, condoms, diaphragms) while taking this medicine. Contact your health care provider if you suspect pregnancy. Lab tests may be required to monitor treatment. Be sure to keep appointments. Do not stop taking this medicine without checking with your doctor. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your doctor. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
