How Simvastatin can lower your cholesterol.

Filed under: Uncategorized — robertprice @ 10:10 am

Simvastatin (Zocor) is the first drug shown to reduce cholesterol levels by inhibiting the production of certain fatty acids in the body, including cholesterol. It is used in certain patients to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and death due to coronary heart disease.

Combine Simvastatin with a low fat diet and exercise for the best results. Try to keep to the diet as prescribed by your doctor. It is taken orally (by mouth) with or without food. Continue to take Simvastatin even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses. If you do miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue on with your regular schedule. Do not double your dose.

Eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice may increase the amount of Simvastatin in your blood, which may increase your risk for serious side effects. Avoid large amounts of grapefruit or grapefruit juice (eg, more than one quart daily).

Who should not take Simvastatin?

You should not take this medication if you have any of these conditions:

  • if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • if you have liver problems
  • if you are allergic to any ingredient in Simvastatin

Before taking Simvastatin tell your doctor about any medical conditions such as:

  • if you have diabetes
  • if you have low blood pressure, kidney problems, diabetes, a serious infection, or a history of seizures
  • if you drink alcohol or have a history of liver problems or alcohol abuse
  • if you are planning to become pregnant

  1. 1 pint of blueberries every day (fresh is best, but frozen or freeze-dried also works) lowers total cholesterol by at least 25 elements in 30 days. Plus, you receive the antioxidant benefits, nervous program protection, skin protection from UV light, as well as other benefits. All this, at a fraction of the cost of cholesterol lowering drugs.

  2. It is easy to add plant fats towards average diet. A single way is to add almond milk on the diet. You can guy it, or make it at home. Almond milk just isn’t only better for you personally than cow’s milk, it has anti-cancer properties, brain-boosting nutrients and cardiovascular protectors.
