What is Femara taken for?

Filed under: Uncategorized — robertprice @ 1:09 pm

Femara is primarily used to treat breast cancer in women past menopause. This medication, available online at Canada pharmacy, works by decreasing the amount of estrogen the body produces. As a result, this deprives the breast cancer cells of estrogen, their main source for growth.

Breast cancer occurs when cells in your breast begin growing abnormally. These abnormal cells spread rapidly and may spread through your breast or into other parts of your body. The most common type of breast cancer can begin in the milk ducts, but cancer can also occur in the small sacs that produce milk (lobules) or in other breast tissue.

Signs and Symptoms of Breast Cancer

When breast cancer is detected early, you have more options for treatment, a better chance for long-term recovery, and a five-year survival rate of 95%. Getting to know the signs and symptoms may help save your life.

The most common sign of breast cancer for both men and women is a lump or thickening in the breast. Often, the lump is painless. Other signs include:

  • A spontaneous clear or bloody discharge from your nipple
  • Retraction or indentation of your nipple
  • A change in the size or contours of your breast
  • Any flattening or indentation of the skin over your breast
  • Redness or pitting of the skin over your breast, like the skin of an orange

What information will my doctor need to know before prescribing Femara?

Your doctor will need to know about any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or are nursing; if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine; if you have any other medical conditions; if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine or similar medications.

The doctor will also need to know:

  • if you have not started menopause
  • if you are allergic to any ingredient in Femara
  • if you have severe liver disease
  • if you are taking hormone replacement therapy

What important information should I know?

This medication may cause drowsiness or diziness, which may worsen when taken with alcohol or certain drugs. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination or physical dexterity.

While taking Femara you may be required to perform lab tests, including bone mineral density tests. These tests are used to monitor your condition or check for side effects. It is important to keep all doctor and lab appointments.

Check with your doctor before nursing your child. It is not known if this drug is found in breast milk.

Does Femara have any side effects?

Calan is a fast-acting class of drug known as a calcium channel blocker. This medication is taken for angina (chest pain due to clogged cardiac arteries), irregular heartbeat, and high blood pressure.

It works by relaxing the blood vessels, improving blood flow through the heart and throughout the body. In turn, this reduces blood pressure, corrects irregular heartbeat, and helps prevent pain from angina.
