Drug Description:
This medicine is used for short-term relief of sinus inflammation, runny nose, and hay fever, as well as coughs due to sinus inflammation, sore throat, bronchitis, and asthma when complicated by thick mucus and congestion. Store a controlled room temperature (between 59 and 86 degrees F). Keep in a tight, light-resistant container. How much medicine you take and how often it is taken depend on many factors, including the condition being treated, your age, and weight. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Carefully read the patient leaflet provided with this medicine and reread it each time you get your prescription refilled. Take this medicine in the morning and evening or as prescribed by your health care provider. Swallow tablets whole. Do not crush or chew them. Take this medicine with food, water, or milk to minimize stomach upset. If nervousness, dizziness, or sleeplessness occur, stop using this medicine and talk with your doctor. This medicine may cause dizziness. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Diabetes patients — This medicine may affect your blood sugar level. Your doctor may need to change the amount of your diabetes medicine while you are taking this medication. Do not take this medicine if you are currently taking an MAO inhibitor or have taken an MAO inhibitor within the last 2 weeks. If you are not sure whether any of your medicines contain an MAO inhibitor, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine. Do not give this medicine to children less than 12 years of age without talking with a health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not take more medicine than recommended unless you are told to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements. Contact your health care provider at once if you feel you have taken too much of this medicine. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised to by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, restart medication and contact your health care provider. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine or to similar medications you are currently taking or have taken a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor within the last 14 days Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription medicine, nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement if you have heart disease if you have high blood pressure if you have diabetes if you have increased pressure in the eye if you have an overactive thyroid if you have difficulty urinating due to an enlarged prostate if you have any other medical condition Most severe: Fast heartbeat; pounding in the chest; hallucinations; convulsions; difficulty breathing; irregular heartbeat. Most common: Headache; dizziness; nausea. Other: Feeling of fear; anxiety; nervousness; restlessness; tremor; weakness; pale skin; painful urination; sleeplessness.
