Drug Description:

This medicine is used with other therapy to prevent kidney transplant failure. It is also used to treat severe rheumatoid arthritis that does not respond to other treatment.Store between 59 and 77 degrees F in a dry place. Keep in a tight, light-resistant container.How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated, your age, and weight. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. This medicine may be taken after meals to avoid stomach upset. Report any unusual bleeding, bruising, or signs of infection to your doctor. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Contact your doctor if you suspect that you are pregnant. Lab tests will be required to monitor therapy. Be sure to keep appointments. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your doctor. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, restart medication and contact your doctor or pharmacist.Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine you are pregnant and have rheumatoid arthritis you have used alkylating agents for treating rheumatoid arthritis. Do not use this medicine to treat rheumatoid arthritis in children.Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription medicine, nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement if you are taking allopurinol, warfarin, Bactrim , Septra , or Captopril -type medications if you have any other medical condition, especially signs of bone marrow depression (infection, bleeding tendencies), impaired renal function or gastrointestinal toxicity.This medicine may increase your risk of developing certain kinds of tumors. Doctors using this medicine should be very familiar with this risk and with the risk of genetic changes to both men and women and with the risk of possible blood disorders.Most severe:  Serious infection (fever, chills, sore throat); severe allergic reactions (rash; difficulty breathing; swelling of the face or throat).Most common:  Nausea; vomiting, diarrhea, fever, malaise, and myalgiasOther:  Vomiting with stomach pain; hair loss; joint pain; oily stools; rash.
