Drug Description:

This medicine is used to manage opiate dependence. Store between 59 to 86 degrees F. Protect from direct sunlight. This is especially important during the first 7 to 10 days of treatment. Patients who are switching from this medicine to methadone should wait at least 48 hours after the last dose of this medicine before taking methadone or any other narcotic. Patients should inform their family members what to do in case of overdose while taking this medicine. They should inform the treating health care provider or emergency room staff that the patient is being treated with this medicine. This medicine may interact with a number of other medicines, including alcohol. It is important for the patient to report the use of any medicine to their health care provider to avoid serious side effects, such as breathing problems, low blood pressure, or coma. If a female patient becomes pregnant while taking this medicine, she should be switched to methadone for the remainder of the pregnancy. If the patient experiences any symptoms that signal irregular heartbeat while taking this medicine such as pounding in the chest or fainting, talk with your health care provider at once. Do not stop taking this medicine without checking with your doctor. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medicines without talking with your doctor. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
