Description

Drug Description:

Alphagan P (brimonidine tartrate) is an ophthalmic solution indicated to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP). This medication is usually prescribed to adults and children 2 years of age and above, with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

This eye drops is an alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that can lower the pressure inside the eye. It has two mechanisms of action – to reduce aqueous humor production and to increase uveoscleral outflow.

Directions

Read the medication or prescription guide thoroughly before starting this medication. Keep in mind the instructions provided. Do not increase or decrease your Alphagan dose unless advised by your doctor. Alphaganeyedrops are available in 1 mg/mL and 1.5 mg/mL solution.

Directions on using Alphagan P Eyedrops:

  1. Wash and dry your hands thoroughly to prevent contamination.
  2. Open the ophthalmic solution.
  3. Slightly lean your head back and gently pull down your lower eyelid.
  4. Hold the eye drops with the dropper right above your eye.
  5. Look up and squeeze out a single drop.
  6. Close your eyes for not less than 1 minute and tip your head down. Do not blink or squint.
  7. For about 1 minute, gently press the inner corner of the eye to prevent the medication from draining into the tear duct.
  8. Put the cap back and ensure that it is properly closed.
