Drug Description:

This medicine is used as an aid to stop smoking.Store gum below 86 degrees F. Protect from light.How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Weeks 1 to 6: 1 piece of gum every 1 to 2 hours. Week 7 to 9: 1 piece of gum every 2 to 4 hours. Weeks 10 to 12: I piece of gum every 4 to 8 hours. This medicine is to help in the stopping of smoking by reducing the withdrawal symptoms of nicotine. Stop smoking completely when you begin using this medicine. Use of this product should be part of a larger program to help you to stop smoking. If you need help finding a program, talk to your health care provider. Do not eat or drink for 15 minutes before using this medicine or while chewing a piece of this medicine gum. Do not chew more than 24 pieces of gum a day. Stop using this medicine at the end of 12 weeks. If you still have a need for this medicine, talk with your health care provider. Stop using this medicine if any of the following occurs: Mouth, teeth, or jaw problems; pounding in the chest; nausea; vomiting; dizziness; weakness. This product contains nicotine and should be kept out of reach of children and pets. A small amount of nicotine can poison a child or pet. Do not stop taking this medicine without checking with your doctor. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medicines without talking with your doctor. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor.
