Description

Indications

Dapsone topical is indicated for the treatment of acne in individuals across a wide age range, including children, adolescents, and adults. Classified as a sulfone antibiotic, dapsone operates by inhibiting bacterial growth and reducing inflammation through its pharmacologic action.

Uses and Dosage

Wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying this medication.

Begin by gently cleansing the affected skin with a mild and soapless cleanser, and patting it dry. Follow the instructions provided by your physician and apply a small amount of medication, equivalent to the size of a pea, in a thin layer to the affected areas of the skin.

Depending on the brand, this medication is typically used once or twice a day, and should be rubbed in gently, taking care to avoid the areas around the lips and eyes.

This medication should only be applied to the skin and should never be used inside the mouth or nose, or in the groin or vaginal region. To avoid irritation, do not allow the medication to come into contact with the eyes. If this does occur, immediately rinse the affected area with a large amount of water and contact your doctor if irritation persists.

After using the medication, wash your hands thoroughly to prevent any accidental contact with your eyes.

To maximize the efficacy of this medication, use it regularly at the same time each day. Do not exceed the recommended dose or frequency of application, as doing so will not improve your skin any faster and may increase your risk of experiencing adverse effects.

If your condition does not improve or worsens after 12 weeks of use, inform your physician promptly.
