Description

Indications

Fluorometholone is classified as a corticosteroid medication and is used to alleviate symptoms of swelling, redness, and itching caused by inflammation or injury in certain eye conditions.

Uses and Dosage

Unless directed otherwise by your doctor, refrain from wearing contact lenses while using this medicine. Ensure to sterilize your contact lenses according to the manufacturer’s instructions and consult with your doctor before using them again.

If approved by your doctor to wear contact lenses during treatment with this medication, remove the lenses prior to using the eye drops. The preservative contained in this product may be absorbed by contact lenses. Wait at least 15 minutes after each dose of the eye drop before wearing the lenses again.

Before applying the eye drops, ensure to wash your hands thoroughly. Shake the bottle well before use and do not touch the dropper tip or allow it to come into contact with your eye or any other surface to avoid contamination.

Tilt your head back, look upwards, and gently pull down the lower eyelid to form a pouch. Hold the dropper directly over your eye and place one drop into the pouch. Look downwards and gently close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes. Place one finger at the corner of your eye near the nose and apply gentle pressure to prevent the medication from draining out. Try not to blink or rub your eye. Repeat the process for the other eye if directed to do so and if the dose is more than one drop.

If you are using other eye medication, wait for at least 5 to 10 minutes before applying them. Use eye drops before eye ointments to enable the drops to enter the eye.

To derive the most benefit from this medication, use it regularly at the same time(s) each day. The dosage and length of treatment are determined based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Do not exceed the prescribed dosage or use this medication for longer than recommended, as this may increase the risk of side effects.

Continue using this medication for the full duration prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop using this medication without consulting your doctor as some conditions may worsen when the medication is suddenly stopped. Your doctor may gradually reduce your dose.

Do not use this product if it becomes contaminated (for example, if the drops turn dark in color). The use of contaminated eye medication can cause infection, severe damage to the eye, and vision loss.

Inform your doctor if your condition does not improve after two days or worsens.

Caution

If you have allergies, make sure to inform your doctor or pharmacist before using fluorometholone as it may contain inactive ingredients that can cause allergic reactions or other problems.

Inform your doctor or pharmacist about your medical history, especially if you have had eye infections, recent eye surgery, cataracts, glaucoma (open-angle type), severe nearsightedness (myopia), or diabetes before using this medication.

After applying the eye drops, your vision may become blurred temporarily. Refrain from driving, using machinery, or performing any activity that requires clear vision until you can do so safely.

If you develop a new eye infection or injury, or require eye surgery, consult with your doctor on whether to continue using your current bottle of fluorometholone eye drops or start a new bottle.
