Description

Indications

Terbinafine is a medication that is utilized for the treatment of diverse fungal skin infections, including ringworm, athlete’s foot, and jock itch. It is also indicated for the management of pityriasis, a fungal skin condition characterized by the alteration of the skin color on the neck, chest, arms, or legs. Terbinafine functions as an antifungal agent that inhibits the growth of fungus.

Uses and Dosage

This medication is intended for topical use only. Before application, cleanse the affected area and ensure that it is completely dry. Apply a thin layer of the medication to the affected area and the surrounding skin, typically once or twice daily, as instructed on the product label.

After use, remember to wash your hands, unless the treated area includes the hands.

Unless specifically directed by your doctor, do not wrap, cover or bandage the treated area.

Avoid contact with the eyes, nose, mouth, or vaginal area. If accidental exposure occurs, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water. Unless otherwise directed by your doctor, do not apply this medication to the scalp or nails.

The dosage and duration of treatment will depend on the type of fungal infection being treated. Do not exceed the recommended frequency or duration of use, as this may increase the risk of adverse effects.

To ensure the best therapeutic outcome, use this medication regularly at the same time(s) each day. Even if your symptoms improve after a few days, continue using the medication until the full course of treatment is completed. Premature discontinuation of the medication may lead to the recurrence of the infection.

It is possible for your condition to continue to improve even after completing the full course of treatment. Complete resolution of the infection may take several weeks after treatment.

If your symptoms worsen or fail to improve within two weeks for jock itch and ringworm, or four weeks for athlete’s foot, consult your doctor.
