Description

Indications

Midodrine is employed for the treatment of orthostatic hypotension, which is characterized by a sudden drop in blood pressure upon assuming a standing position. Classified as an alpha-adrenergic agonist, midodrine functions by inducing the constriction of blood vessels, leading to elevated blood pressure.

Uses and Dosage

Administer this medication orally, with or without food, in accordance with your doctor’s guidance, typically three times a day (with intervals of at least 3 to 4 hours between doses). Adhere closely to your doctor’s instructions.

This medication is intended for daytime consumption when individuals are frequently in an upright position. Avoid taking this medicine after your evening meal or less than 4 hours prior to bedtime. If you plan to recline for an extended period, such as taking a nap, it is not advisable to take your dose.

The prescribed dosage is contingent on your medical condition and response to treatment. Normally, your doctor will initiate treatment with a low dose, progressively increasing it to mitigate potential side effects. Refrain from elevating your dose or taking it more frequently than directed.

Consistently use this medication to maximize its benefits. To assist with remembering, take it at the same time(s) each day.
