Drug Description:
This medicine is used to lower the level of cholesterol in the blood in patients who do not respond adequately to diet. It may also be used to relieve itching associated with partial block of bile ducts. Doctors may occasionally prescribe it for other reasons.Store at room temperature in a cool, dry place. Protect from direct heat and light. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children..How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medicine. Do not take this medicine in its dry form. Always mix the suspension. Take this medicine during mealtime unless it will interfere with other scheduled medications. Take other medicines at least 1 hour before or 4 to 6 hours after taking this medicine. Lab tests will be required to monitor therapy. Be sure to keep appointments. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medicines without talking with your doctor. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine you suffer from complete block of the bile ducts where bile is not secreted into the intestinesBefore using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical conditionThis medicine should not be taken in its dry form. Discontinue or reduce the dosage of this medicine.Most severe:ÿ Increased bleeding tendency.Most common:ÿ Constipation; stomach pain; gas; nausea; vomiting; diarrhea; loss of appetite; loss of bone; rash; irritation of skin, tongue, and anal area; indigestion; belching; excess fat in feces.Other: Night blindness due to vitamin A deficiency, painful or difficult urination, rash, rectal bleeding and/or pain, ringing in the ears, shortness of breath, sour taste, swollen glands, tingling sensation, ulcer attack, vertigo, vitamin D deficiency, vomiting, weight gain or loss, wheezing
