Description

Indications

This combination product contains the active ingredients azilsartan and chlorthalidone. Azilsartan falls within the category of medications known as angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs), while chlorthalidone belongs to the class of diuretics, commonly referred to as water pills. These medications operate within the kidney to effectively mitigate severe cases of hypertension, thereby reducing elevated blood pressure levels. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.

Uses and Dosage

Follow your doctor’s instructions and take this medication orally, with or without food, usually once a day. Avoid taking this drug close to bedtime to minimize the need to wake up for urination during the night. Administer the medication at least 4 hours before your intended bedtime.

The prescribed dosage is determined based on your medical condition and response to treatment.

Consistently take this medication to derive maximum benefits. Establish a routine by taking it at the same time every day to aid in remembering. Continue taking the medication even if you feel well, as individuals with high blood pressure often do not experience noticeable symptoms.

It may take several weeks before the full therapeutic effects of this medication are observed.

If you are also taking certain medications to lower cholesterol levels (such as bile acid-binding resins like cholestyramine or colestipol), ensure that you take azilsartan/chlorthalidone at least 2 hours before or 4 hours after these medications.

Inform your doctor if your condition does not improve or worsens, such as if your blood pressure readings remain high or increase.
