Description

Indications

Lidocaine transdermal is indicated for the management of post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN), a condition characterized by persistent burning, stabbing pains, or aches that can endure for an extended period after a shingles infection. Lidocaine belongs to a class of medications known as local anesthetics, functioning by impeding the transmission of pain signals along nerves.

Uses and Dosage

Application of this product is limited to normal, unbroken skin. It should not be used on skin that is damaged or irritated.

The appropriate dosage is determined by your medical condition and your response to the treatment.

Begin by removing the protective liner and affixing the patch to the area of skin that is experiencing the most intense pain. Adhere to the prescribed number of patches as advised by your healthcare provider, generally on a once-daily basis. Depending on the specific product, the patch may remain on the skin for a duration of up to 8 or 12 hours. Carefully adhere to the provided instructions. Refrain from using more than three patches within a single day and do not exceed the designated time frame for patch application. In instances where a smaller patch is necessary, it may be trimmed with scissors before removing the liner. Avoid exposing the patch to moisture, as this could impair its adhesion to the skin. Some brands may tolerate brief exposure to water, such as a 10-minute shower. In the event that the patch becomes wet, gently pat it dry.

Following each application, thoroughly wash your hands. Take precautions to prevent this medication from coming into contact with your eyes or mucous membranes, such as the nose and mouth. In the event of accidental eye contact, promptly rinse your eyes with water and safeguard them until normal sensation returns.

If your condition shows no improvement, deteriorates, or if you suspect a severe medical issue, seek immediate medical assistance.

Used patches retain residual medication. Fold the used patch with the adhesive sides together and dispose of it in a location inaccessible to children and pets to mitigate the risk of accidental ingestion or contact.
