Drug Description:

This medicine is used in the treatment of high blood pressure.Store at room temperature in a cool dry place, protect from heat and light. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children and pets.How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking this medicine without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine or to similar medications If you have a history of angioedema (swelling of face, extremities, and throat) or inability to urinate.Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking or planning to take any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition if you have high blood pressureUse this medicine with caution if you have kidney or liver function impairment or if you have lupus. Blood sugar levels should be monitored closely if you are a diabeticMost severe: Abdominal pain, abnormal dreams, abnormal skin sensations such as numbness, prickling, or burning, allergic reactions, arthritis, back pain, black stools, blisters, blood clots in lungs, blurred vision, bronchitis, chest pain, confusion, conjunctivitis, constipation, decrease in sex drive, depression, disturbances in heart rhythm, dry eyes, dry mouth, excessive sweating, fainting, fluid in lungs, flushing, gas, gout, heart attack, hepatitis, hives, hoarseness, inability to sleep, indigestion, inflammation of mouth and tongue, inflammation of the pancreas, itching, joint pain, kidney failure, liver failure, loss of appetite, loss of coordination, loss of hair, low blood pressure, muscle cramps, nervousness, rapid heartbeat, rash, Raynaud’s phenomenon (in which the fingers periodically turn pale, then blue)Most common: Cough, diarrhea, dizziness, drop in blood pressure upon standing up, fatigue, headache, impotence, low potassium levels (leading to symptoms such as dry mouth, excessive thirst, weak or irregular heartbeat, muscle pain or cramps), muscle cramps, nausea, rash, tingling or pins and needles, weaknessOther: Restlessness, ringing in ears, runny nose, sensitivity to light, shortness of breath, sleepiness, sore throat, stroke, tearing, urinary tract infection, vomiting, yellow eyes and skin

Warnings:

When this medicine is used after the third month of pregnancy, it can cause injury or even death to the developing fetus. Stop taking this medicine as soon as possible if you become pregnant.

Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms occur. Contact your health care provider at once if any of the following occurs: Swelling of the face, arms, legs, hands, eyes, lips, or tongue; difficulty swallowing or breathing. Contact your health care provider if you feel lightheadedness, especially during the first few days of starting this medicine. Contra Indication:

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine or to sulfonamides you have a history of swelling related to the use of this medicine or similar medications you are unable to urinate

Severe Side Effects:

Most severe:  Severe allergic reaction (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, tongue, lips, tongue, hands, feet, and throat); infrequent urination; chest pain; fast heartbeat.

Common Side Effects:

Most common:  Dizziness; headache; tiredness; cough; muscle cramps; nausea; weakness; impotence; diarrhea.

Other Side Effects:

  Stomach pain; pounding in the chest; vomiting; indigestion; constipation; gas; dry mouth; sleeplessness; nervousness; drowsiness; feeling of a whirling motion; joint pain; back pain; excessive sweating; decreased sex drive; ringing in the ears; urinary tract infection; lightheadedness; fainting; gout; abnormal skin sensations; itching; cough.
