In rectal application, hydrocortisone and pramoxine are employed to address itching or swelling resulting from hemorrhoids or inflammatory conditions affecting the rectum or anus.
Hydrocortisone functions as a steroid, dampening the effects of chemicals in the body responsible for inflammation. Pramoxine, classified as an anesthetic or “numbing medicine,” operates by disrupting pain signals transmitted from nerves to the brain.
Uses and Dosage
Cleanse the affected area using mild soap and water, ensuring a thorough rinse and gentle patting dry. Before usage, ensure the foam canister is well-shaken. Following the completion of the applicator’s filling process, grip it by the barrel and gently introduce the applicator tip around 1/2 to 1 inch (1.5 to 2.5 centimeters) into the anus. Gently push the plunger to dispense the foam and then carefully withdraw the applicator. Subsequently, disassemble the applicator and cleanse it meticulously with warm water. Avoid inserting any part of the foam canister into the anus, and do not insert the applicator more than 1/2 to 1 inch (1.5 to 2.5 centimeters) inside the anus. Application of the product within the anus using a finger or tissue is not recommended.
For external application around the anus, spray a modest amount of foam onto a tissue and gently pat it onto the affected region. Refrain from covering the area with plastic or waterproof bandages unless specifically instructed by your doctor. Covering the treated area could intensify the medication’s absorption through the skin. While this might enhance the medication’s effectiveness, it could also elevate the likelihood of experiencing side effects.
Following application, promptly wash your hands. Prevent any contact of the product with your eyes, nose, ears, or mouth. If the medication comes into contact with these areas, rinse them immediately with clean water.
Adhere to your doctor’s instructions while using this product, usually applying it 3 to 4 times daily or following each bowel movement. Dosage is determined based on your medical condition and how you respond to treatment. Consistent usage of this medication is crucial to gain maximum benefits. To aid in memory, use it at consistent times daily.
Do not exceed the recommended amount, frequency, or duration of usage prescribed by your doctor. If you’ve been utilizing this medication for an extended period or in higher doses, do not abruptly discontinue use without your doctor’s consent.
