Drug Description:

This medication is used to treat acne. health care providers occasionally may prescribe it for other reasons.Store below 86 degrees F. Keep away from direct heat, light and moisture.How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. This medicine is for external use only. This medicine is flammable. Keep away from extreme heat and open flames. Keep tube tightly closed. Lightly apply this medicine to the affected areas once a day at bedtime. Wash hands at once after use. If you apply too much, “”pilling’ occurs, which minimizes the chance that too much medicine is absorbed. Wash affected areas with a mild cleanser and dry skin gently. Wait 20 to 30 minutes to make sure that skin is completely dry. Squeeze about a half inch or less of the medicine onto the fingertip. Lightly apply this medicine to the affected area once a day at bedtime. The medicine should become invisible almost at once. If you can still see it, you are using too much. Gently smooth into the skin. Wash hands at once after use. Wash skin again in the morning and apply a gentle moisturizer. Keep this medicine away from the eyes, mouth, nose, and mucous membranes. This medicine may cause sensitivity to sunlight and other forms of UV light (such as tanning beds). Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing over treated areas. Do not use other acne medications or strong soaps while using this medication. This medicine may cause an unusual sensitivity to wind and cold. Application may cause a feeling of warmth and slight stinging. Use this medication with caution on eczema (dry scaly skin). If excessive medicine is applied, redness, peeling, and pain may occur. If these symptoms occur, use the medication less frequently or temporarily stop using this medicine. Remove all cosmetics with a mild soap before applying this medicine. Early in treatment, acne may appear worse due to the action of the medicine. Do not stop using it. Positive results should be seen within 2 to 3 weeks but for best results, it may take 6 weeks or more. Many users see improvements in 12 weeks. Do not stop taking this medicine without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medication. Do not take more medicine than is prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider or health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible.
