Drug Description:

This medicine is used to treat acute migraine headaches with or without aura (flashing lights, wavy lines, dark spots) in adults. It is not to be used to prevent migraine or to treat other types of headaches (hemiplegic or basilar).Store at controlled room temperature (between 68 to 77 degrees F). Protect from heat, moisture, and light.How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Carefully read the information provided with this medicine and reread it each time you get this prescription refilled. Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your health care provider. This medicine is intended for the relief of acute migraine attacks. It does not prevent or reduce the number of attacks. Use this medicine only for acute migraine attacks. Open tablet blister pack with dry hands and place the tablet on the tongue. Do not try to split the Tablet. Take the tablet immediately after removing it from its blister. Do not store the removed tablet for future use. Throw away any unused Tablet or any portion that has been removed from the blister pack. The tablet will dissolve rapidly on the tongue and can be swallowed with saliva. It is not necessary to take this medicine with liquid. If the headache returns, you can take another tablet after 2 hours. If the first dose does not relieve the migraine attack, do not take a second dose unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take no more than 10 mg in a 24-hour period. Contact your health care provider at once if you experience pain or tightness of the chest or throat while using this medicine, or if the pain or tightness is severe or does not go away. Contact your health care provider at once if shortness of breath, wheezing, heart throbbing, swelling of eyelids, face, or lips, skin rash or lumps, or hives occur. If you experience tingling, abnormally high body temperature, redness of the face, heaviness, pressure, drowsiness, dizziness, tiredness, or sickness after using this medicine, notify your health care provider if you have symptoms you do not understand. If your medicine has expired, throw it away. This medicine may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Diabetes patients — This medicine may affect your blood sugar level. Your doctor may need to change the dose of diabetes medicine you are taking. Do not take this medicine if you are currently taking or have taken an MAO inhibitor within the last 2 weeks. If you are uncertain whether your other medications contain an MAO inhibitor, check with your health care provider. Do not stop taking this medicine without checking with your doctor. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medication. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Contact your health care provider at once if you feel you have taken too much of this medicine. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your doctor. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. Contra Indication:

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine you have a history of heart disease, heart attack, or chest pain you have had a stroke you have uncontrolled high blood pressure you have other types of migraine headaches (hemiplegic, basilar, or cluster headaches) you have used ergot-containing medications or another medication similar to this medicine within 24 hours you are currently taking or have taken a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor within the past 14 days

Severe Side Effects:

Most severe:  Tightness, pain, pressure, or heaviness in jaw, neck, throat, and chest; pounding in the chest; heart attack.

Common Side Effects:

Most common:  Abnormal skin sensations; weakness; nausea; dizziness; pain; drowsiness; warm/cold sensations; increased sensitivity to touch.

Other Side Effects:

  Dry mouth; indigestion; difficulty swallowing; muscle pain; muscle weakness; sweating.
