Description

Indications

Florastor is a type of yeast, also referred to as Brewer’s Yeast, that has been utilized as a probiotic to inhibit the proliferation of harmful bacteria in the stomach and intestines. It is likely effective as a remedy for preventing antibiotic-induced or feeding tube-induced diarrhea, and is also possibly effective in treating diarrhea in infants and young children.

Florastor has been used as a possibly effective aid in preventing the recurrence of diarrhea caused by Clostridium difficile (C. difficile), although it may not be effective in treating the initial episodes of this type of diarrhea.

Uses and Dosage

Please adhere to the instructions provided on the product package. Consult the label directions for your specific product to determine if the dosage should be consumed whole, chewed, sprinkled on food, or mixed with liquid.

When using the liquid form of this medication, use a designated measuring device or spoon to carefully measure the dose. Avoid using a regular household spoon as it may not provide the correct dose.

Certain probiotic products may contain live bacteria, such as bifidobacteria. Taking antibiotics may hinder the efficacy of these products. If you plan to consume any product that contains live bacteria, wait at least 2 to 3 hours before or after taking antibiotics.

If you are taking this product to alleviate diarrhea caused by antibiotics, refrain from using it if you have a high fever or for more than 2 days, unless otherwise instructed by your doctor. This may indicate a serious issue that requires medical intervention.

If your symptoms persist or worsen, or if you suspect a severe medical condition, please seek immediate medical attention.

Liquid products, foods, powders, or chewable tablets may contain sugar and/or aspartame. It is recommended that you exercise caution if you have diabetes, phenylketonuria (PKU), or any other condition that requires you to restrict or avoid these substances in your diet.
