Description
Indications
Topical clindamycin is utilized for the treatment of acne. Clindamycin belongs to a category of pharmaceuticals known as lincomycin antibiotics. Its mechanism of action involves the inhibition or suppression of bacterial growth responsible for acne, while concurrently reducing inflammation.
Uses and Dosage
Topical clindamycin is available in multiple forms, including foam, gel, solution, lotion, and pledget, all intended for application onto the skin. The foam and certain gel brands are typically applied once daily, while the solution, lotion, pledgets, and most gel brands are applied twice daily.
Administer topical clindamycin at consistent times each day. Follow the prescribed directions precisely, without applying more or less of the medication or using it more frequently than instructed by your doctor.
Topical clindamycin is exclusively meant for use on the skin and should not be ingested. Avoid contact with the eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina. In case of accidental contact with these areas or broken skin, promptly rinse with an ample amount of cool water.
Your medication will likely be accompanied by specific usage instructions. Thoroughly read and comply with these guidelines. If you have any inquiries regarding the application of topical clindamycin, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Before each use, ensure that the lotion is well-shaken to achieve a homogeneous mixture.
The pledgets are designed for single use only. Refrain from removing a pledget from its foil pouch until you are ready to apply it. Dispose of each pledget after using it once.
Be aware that the foam formulation may be flammable. Exercise caution by avoiding open flames and refraining from smoking while applying the foam and for a brief period thereafter.
