Description

Indications

Benzocaine is a local anesthetic commonly utilized for short-term pain relief associated with minor oral conditions, including toothaches, canker sores, sore gums or throat, and mouth or gum injuries. Its mechanism of action involves numbing the affected area to alleviate discomfort.

Uses and Dosage

Adhere to the recommended dosage of this medication, not exceeding 4 times a day, unless otherwise directed by your physician.

Allow the medication to remain on the affected area for at least 1 minute before spitting it out or rinsing your mouth.

Using excessive amounts of this drug or exceeding the recommended frequency of use may increase the risk of serious side effects, including methemoglobinemia, a rare but potentially fatal condition.

Be cautious to avoid contact of this medication with your eyes.

If your sore throat persists for more than 2 days, or if your mouth symptoms persist for more than 7 days, or if you experience severe symptoms such as fever, headache, rash, swelling, nausea, or vomiting, discontinue use of this medication and consult your doctor. These could be signs of a serious medical condition that may require alternative treatment.

If your condition worsens or you suspect a serious medical problem, seek immediate medical attention.
