Indications
Reboxetine is prescribed for the treatment of depressive illness and for sustaining the clinical improvement in patients who have initially responded to the treatment. It is not fully understood how this drug affects the brain in relieving symptoms.
Uses and Dosage
Follow your doctor’s instructions precisely when taking reboxetine. Typically, the recommended dose is one (4 mg) tablet taken twice daily, although your doctor may prescribe a different dosage.
Strive to take your doses consistently at the same times each day, aiding in better adherence.
Reboxetine can be taken either before or after meals. Ensure to swallow the tablet with a drink of water.
If you happen to forget a dose, take it as soon as you recall. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule. Avoid taking two doses together to compensate for a missed one.
Side Effects
Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention:
- dry mouth
- headache
- nausea, vomiting
- constipation or diarrhoea
- difficulty sleeping
- increased sweating
- fast heart beat
- dizziness
- eye problems
- difficulty passing urine
- sexual problems
- stomach pain
- unusual tiredness or weakness
- tingling or numbness of the hands or feet
- decreased appetite
- altered taste
- restless leg syndrome
Inform your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any serious side effects:
- anxiety
- agitation
- confusion
- hallucinations, delirium
- bleeding or bruising more easily than normal
- frequent signs of infection such as fever, sore throat, severe chills, mouth ulcers
- coldness or loss of blood to your extremities
- involuntary muscle movements such as tremor, clonus (muscle contractions or spasms that lead to muscle tightness and pain), and hyperreflexia (overactive reflexes)
- tiredness, headache, shortness of breath when exercising
- dizziness with pale skin
Caution
- Due to rare occurrences of seizures reported in clinical studies, reboxetine should be administered with careful monitoring in individuals with a history of convulsive disorders. If seizures develop, discontinuation of reboxetine is advised.
- The concurrent use of MAO inhibitors and reboxetine should be avoided.
- As with all antidepressants, there have been instances of switches to mania or hypomania; therefore, close supervision of bipolar patients is recommended.
- The inherent risk of suicidal attempts in depression may persist until significant remission occurs. Therefore, close patient monitoring during the initial phase of drug therapy is recommended.
- Caution is advised in patients exhibiting current signs of urinary retention and glaucoma.
- Orthostatic hypotension has been observed more frequently at doses exceeding the maximum recommended. Close supervision is recommended when administering reboxetine with other drugs known to lower blood pressure.
- No adequate and well-controlled studies have been conducted in pregnant women. The use of reboxetine during pregnancy is advisable only if the potential benefits outweigh the potential risks to the fetus.
- The administration of reboxetine is not recommended for breastfeeding women.

FAQ
Is Edronax safe for children?
Edronax should not usually be used in children and adolescents less than 18 years old. Patients under 18 have an increased risk of undesirable effects, such as suicide attempt, suicidal thoughts and hostility.
Does Edronax give you energy?
Edronax is energising and should be taken morning and lunch, or take all the medication in the morning if the lunchtime dose is interfering with your sleep.
