The combination of netupitant and palonosetron is indicated for the prevention of nausea and vomiting induced by cancer chemotherapy. Netupitant belongs to the pharmacological class of neurokinin (NK1) antagonists, which function by inhibiting the action of neurokinin, a endogenous substance in the brain known to elicit nausea and vomiting. Palonosetron is classified as a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist and acts by blocking serotonin, an endogenous substance in the body that triggers the sensation of nausea and vomiting.

The oral formulation of netupitant and palonosetron is available in capsule form. Generally, it is administered approximately one hour before the commencement of chemotherapy, either with or without food.
