Betnesol Uses

This medication, often known as betamethasone, is an oral corticosteroid. It is a medication used to help relieve inflammatory symptoms caused by several conditions such as asthma, severe skin allergies, joint or muscle problems, autoimmune diseases, etc.

This medication is offered in two strengths: 0.5 mg and 1 mg oral tablets.

How does Betnesol work?

This medication has anti-inflammatory and vasoconstrictive properties. It blocks the release of inflammatory cells (mast cells, eosinophils, basophils, lymphocytes, macrophages, and neutrophils) as well as inflammatory mediators (histamine, eicosanoids, leukotrienes, and cytokines) after taking this drug. As a result, there is a reduction in inflammation, redness, pain, and swelling.

Betnesol Dosage

The dosage of Betnesol varies depending on the client’s health, the severity of the disease, age, and tolerance to therapy.

The suggested daily dose for short-term therapy is 2 mg to 3 mg. The dosage can be decreased gradually by 0.25 mg to 0.5 mg every two to five days. However, it will depend on your response to the treatment and evaluation of your physician.

Meanwhile, the recommended dose for people with rheumatoid arthritis is 0.5 mg to 2 mg pill daily. For other medical conditions, the prescribed dose is betamethasone 1.5 mg to 5 mg per day.

For children, the suggested starting dose depends on their weight.
