Drug Description:

This medicine is used with other therapy to treat partial seizures in adults and children 12 years of age and older. Store tablets between 68 to 77 degrees F. Protect from light and moisture. How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking this medicine without checking with your doctor. Seizures can occur. Take this medicine with food. This medicine may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Carry Medic-Alert identification that lists your condition and the medicine you are taking. Avoid taking or using alcohol and other mental depressants (eg, narcotics, tranquilizers, antihistamines) while you are taking this medicine. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, become pregnant or planning to become pregnant or if you breastfeeding while taking this medicine. Lab tests may be required to monitor therapy. Be sure to keep appointments. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medicines without talking with your doctor. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition Most severe:  Speech or language problems; other seizures; severe weakness; vision problems; serious rash; abnormal thinking; confusion; memory impairment. Most common:  Dizziness; lightheadedness; weakness; lack of energy; drowsiness; nausea; nervousness; irritability; shakiness; stomach pain; difficulty with concentration or attention; pain; diarrhea; vomiting; sleeplessness; clumsiness; abnormal skin sensations; mood swings; abnormal walking; sore throat; cough; muscle pain; flu-like symptoms; urinary tract infection. Other:  Flushing; increased appetite; mouth ulcers; muscle weakness; hostility; rapid eye movement; agitation; itching.
